Tracey: He won my heart when... I went to visit him in Las Cruces for the first time. We had a great weekend together. He took me to eat at his favorite local restaurants and we went boot shopping in El Paso. Sunday afternoon came and neither one of us wanted me to leave. He walked me to my car and as I was about to leave he asked me ‘Are you mine now?’ all I could do was smile because I definitely was.

Chance: She won my heart when.... on a weekend when we didn’t think we were going to see each other. We had spent several weekends before that traveling back and forth from Las Cruces to Edgewood to spend time together. That weekend wasn’t going to work out it seemed, but Saturday morning there was a knock on my door and when I opened it, there she was. It was a total surprise.”

More About Us

1. In what New Mexico City do you live?

For fifteen months Chance and I were long distance. He lived in Las Cruces; I lived in Edgewood. We took turns driving to see each other nearly every weekend but now we finally live in the same city, Albuquerque.

2. How did you meet and how long have you been together?

Chance and I first met on Halloween of 2005. I went to Las Cruces to visit a friend and Chance happened to be her neighbor. We were briefly introduced and went our separate ways. For Memorial Weekend 2008 I went to Elephant Butte Lake with a big group of friends. Chance somehow ended up at our campsite and I immediately recognized him. Luckily, when I spotted him, he was talking to a mutual friend so I took the opportunity to say hi to her and re-introduce myself to him. A year and seven months later we are inseparable.

3. What do you both do for fun in New Mexico?

Chance and I love going to Elephant Butte Lake. It is a very special place for us; it is where we began and where he proposed. We love baseball, and really enjoy going to Isotopes games. ‘GO TOPES!’ We also love music and will drive from Santa Fe to Albuquerque to Las Cruces to Portales just to see our favorite bands play. We especially enjoy traveling to see our family and friends that live all over the state. We love New Mexico road trips!

4. Tell us about your occupations:

I am an office manager at a real estate appraisal company here in Albuquerque. I love my job and my co-workers. I couldn’t ask for a better place to work. I plan to get my real estate appraisers license and start appraising as soon as Chance finishes his Masters at UNM. Currently, Chance is a full time graduate student working towards a degree in Water Resources. He plans on using his education to help his fellow New Mexicans address issues affecting our most precious natural resource..

5. What was your most memorable moment together?

Our most memorable moment together is definitely the night we got engaged. We had been planning to go back to Elephant Butte to celebrate our first year together. That week my great-grandma passed away. It was a rough week and I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to go. All of my family and friends already knew Chance planned to propose so they made sure I made it down there. I arrived later than everyone who had already set up camp and I got stuck in the sand. I was frustrated and emotionally drained when I finally sat down at the campfire to relax. Chance asked if I needed anything, I said I was okay. Then he said he had another question, “Will you marry me?” It was completely unexpected and I was in shock, all I managed to say was, “Seriously? Are you serious? YES!”

6. What would you like voters to know about you?

Chance and I would like everyone to know how excited we are to have been chosen to be a part of this great opportunity and wonderful cause. We want to thank all of the sponsors of the 2010 New Mexico Dream Wedding for helping us get this far. Being chosen as the 2010 Dream Couple would allow us to have the wedding we have dreamed of since the moment we got engaged. We sincerely appreciate everything!

7. What do you look forward to the most during your dream honeymoon in Paris?

The thing we look forward to the most is getting to experience an amazing place together. There is so much history and so many things to see in Paris. Chance and I have not had the opportunity to travel overseas and we feel this would be a great place to start our life adventures.

8. Why do you deserve to win the 2009 New Mexico Dream Wedding?

Chance and I deserve to win the 2010 New Mexico Dream Wedding because we LOVE New Mexico, almost as much as we love each other. We were both raised in small towns and have deep family roots in this amazing state. We represent New Mexico everywhere we go and although they say God blessed Texas, everyone knows He put the best just to the west! This is the place where we are starting our lives together and where we plan to raise a family of our own someday. This wedding would be more than either of us could ever imagine and we would be forever grateful..
